If You're Not Sure About Boot Camp...

You DO have other choices. Here are some of them…

Hire a personal trainer:  As the owner of a private one-on-one personal training studio in Burlington, I can tell you first hand that personal training (with the right trainer) absolutely works. If you would prefer one-on-one help, just call my office at 860-882-3277.  I'll be happy to help you. But keep in mind that it's much more expensive than boot camp and it’s easier to “cheat” because you’re not accountable to the friends you make at boot camp, so it requires greater will power and commitment.

Join a gym:  Most people that join a gym don't go very often (once or twice a month). And if you don’t go, you can’t get the benefit. But even if you do go, do you know what to do when you’re there in order to burn the most calories and get the best results in the shortest period of time? Or do you just get on a cardio machine and waste an hour of your time?

Try a “diet”:  This, my friend, is not the way to go. Please don’t do this to yourself. Restrictive dieting is not a long-term solution. Yes, you can lose some weight (mostly water) in the short term by strictly limiting your caloric intake, but it’s harmful to your body.  It actually causes your body to go into starvation mode…and store more body fat. Do you know the term “fat skinny person?” That’s what happens to women on diets. It’s not pretty.  And besides that, who wants to be hungry all the time?  Not me!

Do it on your own:  Some people, the rare few that are super disciplined, can be successful working out on their own. If you have a will of steel and intense self-discipline, you may be able to make this work for you. Results will probably come less quickly simply because of the learning curve. And you will need to buy some equipment, block time and commit – really commit – to following through without any outside support or accountability.

Do nothing:  You know where that will get you. If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always gotten. If you were satisfied with what you’ve gotten, chances are you wouldn’t be reading this right now. Choosing to do nothing at all is the worst choice of all. I hope you won’t take this route.
